Synchronicity led to the meeting that made the series possible. John Neumeier’s Hamburg Ballet performed Nijinsky in 2012 in Brisbane Australia. There I saw a young dancer perform the role of Stanislav Nijinsky. He was mesmerising. In that moment I decided he was the one to work with to create this series. But who was he and how to meet him? Many twists and turns led to a chance meeting on a train station in Germany and ultimately resulted in this collaboration.
Without costumes or sets, this is an exploration of essence.
